Liu Xin

Partner, Hong Kong / Mainland of China, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

Liu Xin is a partner in Freshfields’ Asia dispute resolution group, and he splits his time between our Hong Kong and Mainland of China offices. He has extensive experience in international arbitration, complex regulatory investigations, internal investigations, and crisis management, in particular to export control and sanctions violations, alleged bribery / FCPA violations, money laundering, and fraud, as well as developing and implementing compliance programmes.

Xin has over 15 years of practice experience and has acted in a broad range of cross-border disputes involving governments, state-owned enterprises and multinational corporations. These matters have included arbitrations under the ICSID, ICC, HKIAC, SIAC, CIETAC, SHIAC Rules and ad hoc arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Rules. Given the ongoing geopolitical tensions, Xin has regularly assisted our clients in navigating the challenging situations brought on by conflicting legal regimes, including the South East Asia region. As a result, he has the most up-to-date and practical experience in resolving legal and compliance challenges.

Xin is qualified in both New York and China (non-practicing). Prior to joining Freshfields, Xin worked for four years with a leading Chinese law firm in Beijing and the World Bank in Washington D.C. He has also been seconded to Freshfields’ New York office for a year. He speaks English and Mandarin.
