Schedule of the FDI Moot Shenzhen 2023

The FDI Moot Shenzhen 2023 will mirror the actual procedure of an international investment arbitration case: teams will be required to submit their Skeleton Brief in advance, and then argue the legal issues in the Oral Hearings, the language of which will be English. The organiser, Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (hereinafter SCIA), will assign 3 arbitrators with experience in practicing arbitration law (e.g. lawyers, real arbitrators, professors, etc.) to form the tribunal of each hearing session. The tribunal will evaluate and score the teams’ legal arguments, presentations and advocacy skills.

This year, the FDI Moot Shenzhen 2023 will be held in two phases:

1. From August 12-13, 2023

the Online Preliminary Rounds (Arbitrators will judge the hearing sessions on the designated online platform. SCIA will provide all necessary technical support. Teams advancing to the Elimination Rounds will be determined based on the arbitrators’ scoring.)

2. From August 19-20, 2023

the In-person Elimination Rounds (Arbitrators will judge the hearing sessions at the SCIA Tower, Shenzhen, China.)

Since the FDI Moot Shenzhen 2023 is a qualifying round, the arbitrators’ scoring and comments will directly determine whether the teams are qualified to advance to the Globals, so the arbitrators’ level of profession and ability to perform their duties are crucial to the success of the Moot.

We sincerely invite our legal peers to participate in the FDI Moot Shenzhen, comment on the performance of teams and share your experience in the field of international arbitration.
