关于FDI Moot
Increasing international investment, the proliferation of international investment treaties, domestic legislation, and international investment contracts have contributed to the development of a new field of international law that defines obligations between host States and foreign investors and refers to internationalized procedures (e.g. ICSID) for resolving related disputes. These disputes involve not only vast sums, but also a panoply of rights, duties, and shifting objectives at the juncture of national and international law and policy.

Considering this new field of international law and its growing needs, the FDI Moot, initiated in 2006 by the Center for International Legal Studies (CILS), Suffolk, Pepperdine, DIS, King's College London, was established as an ambitious new international competition focusing on investor-State disputes.

As one of the three most famous moot court competitions around the world along with Philip C.Jessup International Law Moot Court Debate and Willem C. Vis international Commercial Arbitration Moot, albeit uniting some similar characteristics, FDI Moot also includes some other aspects of the new field of international law mentioned above (e.g. corporate structures & procedures, licensing, environmental law, IP, damages,...). This competition is aimed at enabling future lawyers to obtain a practical understanding of these issues with an extraordinary immersive experience, particularly judged by those famous and professional arbitrators around the world.
